A School Trip to Parque Natural da Peneda – Gerês
Last April the 13th , most students of our class ( A) and class C, both from Year 8 , at 5 a.m. started their way to Parque Natural da Peneda – Gerês .
It was a long way to get there, so we stopped several times on the way: to rest, to eat, etc...
The journey took longer than it was planned, because we got lost in Braga, Minho, yet we arrived to our destiny “ Pousada de Vilarinho das Furnas” at about 6.15 p.m.
There we chose our rooms, unpacked and rested for a while. Then , some boys played football in the inn’s football camp and the rest of the students took a walk by the village called “Vilarinho das Furnas”.
We had dinner at about 8, in the inn’s canteen, after what some students went to the Bar, to watch the football match between the teams “ Benfica and Sporting”, while the others played “PlayStation” and “Table Football “. After the match we all went to sleep.
Next morning, we got up at about 7.30 and had breakfast. After that, we met the guides who took us for a walk by the “ Geira Romana”; we went up and down some troubled paths, and some of the students even fell down!
After we had lunch in the inn’s bar, we visited an ethnographic museum in the village called “ Museu Etnográfico de Vilarinho das Furnas”.
Back to the inn, most students gathered in the rooms listening to or telling stories together with the teachers. It was really fun!
After dinner, we had a night activity in which we split into groups of five members and had to find the way back with a map, a flash light and a compass. Some groups got lost, but everything went ok and in the end we all met where we were supposed to :at the bar . There we danced and had karaoke singing till late at night. We only went to sleep around 3 a.m.!
Next morning, on Thursday, 15th, after packing and having breakfast, at about 10 a.m., it was time to return home.
Back to the road, some students felt sick because of the bends, so we needed to stop for a while, from time to time...but most of us and our teachers slept all the way back. It was all exciting and we all had lots of fun, but we got really tired!
The journey to Tavira was shorter and everything went ok. At about 7.30 p.m. we arrived our home town. Was tired but very fun trip. We love it.
